Govt to provide houses to all tribals in Kerala

Kannur, Oct 10 (UNI) The Kerala Government will provide houses to all 'adivasis' in the state, Forests Minister Binoy Viswom said today.

Talking to newspersons after a review meeting here, he said it would construct 2,557 houses at the government land Aralam Farm, the works of which were expected to be completed in two years.

Mr Viswom said the government had already released Rs 28 crore for the purpose and in the first phase, 600 houses would be constructed by Nimithi Kendra.

The government would convene a meeting of political leaders, adivasi organisations and top government officials on October 31 in this regard, he added.

The government would train 20 adivasis in building construction and they would be provided stipend during the training period.

The Aralam Farm settlement would have all modern facilities, including health centre, anganwadis, children's parks and community halls, he added.
