'Rathotsavam' celebrated in Tirumala

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 8 (UNI) Tens and thousands of devotees witnessed the 'Rathotsavam,' here this morning, the penultimate day of the nine-day Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Temple.

Devotees vied with one another to drag the beautifully decorated chariot of Sri Venkateswara around the four mada streets.

Although the processional deities of Lord Malayappaswamy and his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi were brought to the 'Ratha Mandapam ' in the small hours of today, the chariot began its journey only at 0715 hrs.

The day will end with the procession of Lord Malayappa Swamy mounted on the 'Aswa Vahanam.' State Ministers K Jana Reddy and J Rathanakara Rao and top officials of district administration and TTD were present on the occasion.
