29 children rescued by Mumbai Police
Mumbai, Oct 8: Twenty-nine children were rescued by the police from two parts of the city on Tuesday, Oct 7, in separate raids. Acting on a tip-off, police raided some hotels and zari units at Dharavi in North Central Mumbai and rescued 25 children from there and arrested 15 employers in this connection, police said on Wednesday, Oct 8.
In another raid at Mansarovar Housing Society in suburban Malad, four children were rescued from the custody of their employers. Four flat owners were booked in this connection.
Most of the rescued children hailed from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, police said, adding, they were sent to children welfare home at Mankhurd in North East Mumbai.
Police have registered a case against their employers.
