Kozhikode, Oct 6 (UNI) Ten people, including NYC General Secretary Praveen Kumar and seven policemen, were injured as a protest march called by pro-NCP Nationalist Youth Congress turned violent in the city today.
Police said the activists, who were taking out the march to the District Collectorate here against the ''anti-people policies'' of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, pelted stones at security forces after breaking the cordon at the civil station, prompting them to resort to lathi charge and lob tear gas shells.
Seven policemen, including Circle Inspectors of Nadakkav and Chevayur and three NCP activists, were injured in the scuffle, they said.
Window panes of two buses of State-owned Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) were smashed in stone throwing by the fleeing activists, police said.
Twelve people were taken into custody in this connection, police added.
