Islamabad, Oct 5: Iran has proposed a new clause in the Gas Sale Purchase Agreement of the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project, according to which it would reduce gas supply to Pakistan in case the supply to India was willfully disrupted (by Pakistan).

The Pakistan cabinet's Sub-Committee on Gas Import Projects has been informed that Iran has proposed to include the new clause to the proposed, the Daily Times quoted official sources in Islamabad as saying. If the supply of gas to India is wilfully disrupted by Pakistan, Iran shall have the right to reduce Pakistan's gas supply in the same proportion, says the new clause, according to the sources.

The sources further said the committee had also decided that the proposed change could be agreed on if a clause ensuring Pakistan most favoured nation status is also included.
