India to get 40 GW power out of Indo-US nuclear deal
Shimla, Oct. 5 (UNI) Union State Minister of External Affairs, Anand Sharma said here today that the Indo-US nuclear deal would help India get about 40 Giga Watt nuclear clean power.
Mr Sharma, here to deliver a lecture on Rajiv Gandhi Study Center, told media persons that Indio-US neclear deal was going to fulfill the need of energy requirement for next decades.
He said that India is grappling with power shortage and after this deal, the shortage of power could be met.
He said that India has signed nuclear agreement with France after NSG clean waiver to the Indo-US civil nuclear deals. He said that India would sign similar deal with US, Russia, U.K and other countries in future.
Mr. Sharma said that India would not dilute its nuclear programme due to Indio-US Nuclear deal and India's self imposed ban of nuclear test would continue till necessary.
He said that India has been acknowledged as nuclear state first time on global level and it had achieved a lot without signing NPT and CTBT.
He hailed the deal as ''victory of Indian diplomatic efforts''.
He said that Indo-US nuclear deal was only a civil nuclear deal and Indian nuclear programme had been clearly separated from the deal in the agreement.
