BJP will not hestitate to go for N-tests again: Yashwant
Hyderabad, Oct 5(UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance(NDA) ''will have no hesitation in conducting nuclear tests once again in the national interest,'' its Vice-President and former External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said ''The BJP-led NDA, if voted to power, will renegotiate the nuclear deal with the US, as compromising with national sovereignty is not at all beneficial to the country''.
Mr Sinha said ''moratorium on nuclear tests was only voluntary and the NDA, if necessary, will not hestitate to go for nuclear tests once again, if voted to power''. I say this with full responsibility, he added.
He said the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government has no right to bind the country on a 40-to-50-year obligation to the United States.
The United States had given only a ''political commitment and not any legal commitment'' on nuclear fuel supply, sharing of technology for fuel enrichment and reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. The country was also forced to give up its right to test, he added.
