Former K'taka DG

Bangalore, Oct 4 (UNI) Former Karnataka DG and IGP K R Srinivasan died here today following prolonged illness.

Mr Srinivasan, who was suffering from diabetes and kidney failure, was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital where he breathed last.

He was 60 and is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.

Mr Srinivasan, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, joined Police Department in 1972 and rose to DG and IGP rank before retiring from service in July last.

In recognition of his meritorious service he was awarded the President Medal.

Senior Police officers, including DGP R Shrikumar, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari placed wreaths on the his body and paid their tribute to the departed soul.

The last rites will be held on Monday, family sources said.
