MTV 'Roadies' Delhi audition cancelled after stampede, baton charge

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The much talked about auditions of adventure reality TV show 'MTV Roadies' were today cancelled after a section of the crowd barged into the Hauz Khas auditorium and indulged in vandalism.

The commotion led to a stampede, forcing the police to resort to lathicharge, according to sources.

Trouble started after a section of the nearly 5,000 people, gathered for show auditions, suddenly entered the main foyer area and broke window panes and furniture, they said.

Police was later called after the private security guards, numbering about 100, failed to bring the unruly mob under control.

It resorted to baton-charging the vandals, who had by then damaged a substantial part of the audition venue.

After people started moving out from all directions there was commotion which led to a stampede, according to eyewitnesses, who said about a dozen people were injured in the incident.

However, no reports of any serious injuries had been reported till evening though two people were admitted to the hospital for injuries, said sources.

A senior official of organisors, MTV India, said the auditions were later called off as security of participants was paramount for them.
