President asks people to imbibe ideal of Mahatma Gandhi

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Calling upon people to dedicate themselves to the ideals and work of Mahatma Gandhi, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today said the life and philosophy of the Mahatma taught us the spirit of tolerance and respect for humanity.

In a message on the eve of the Gandhi Jayanti, the President said Gandhiji's philosophy of non-violence and peace was more relevant today than ever before.

''On this day each one of us must spread the idea and thought behind his philosophy of pacifism whose goal was to solve problems of conflict and violence.

Mahatma Gandhi always tried to find peaceful means to resolve all problems. He knew that the key was to restructure the world by liberating the human mind from dogmas of various kinds, she said.
