Man held with gold jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh, Rs 43,000 cash

Porbandar, Sep 27 (UNI) A person, allegedly involved in at least 100 cases of gold jewellery theft, was arrested here and 2.5 kg gold jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh and cash worth Rs 43,000 were seized from him.

According to police, a patrolling party, while checking the vehicles on the Porbandar-Upleta highway on Thursday, recovered gold jewellery including six gold chains, pendants, bangles and other ornaments from a car. Apart from the jewellery, Rs 43,000 in cash was also seized from the accused Haresh Patel.

Police have also impounded the car and during the interrogation Patel revealed that he was involved in about 100 theft cases from different parts of Gujarat and other states, police said.
