Empowering Sikhs is in country's welfare: Makkad

Bhopal, Sep 27 (UNI) Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Awtar Singh Makkad today said empowerment of Sikhs is in the interest of the nation.

Mr Makkad, while addressing the 24th annual confluence of the Guru Singh Sabha (Madhya Pradesh&Chhattisgarh), said members of the community should get empowered besides maintaining the glorious tradition of this country.

Sikh Mission International Chairman and SGPC member Manjeet Singh recalled old days in Kolkata when members of the community were more united. He called upon Sikhs to be more united.

Sabha spokesperson Gurucharan Singh Arora said Sikh intellectuals from across the country and abroad were taking part in the confluence.
