Chandigarh launches 'City Card' for tourists
Chandigarh, Sep 27 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gen (Retd) SF Rodrigues today on the occasion of World Tourism Day launched 'Chandigarh City Card' for tourists and visitors entitling them to have free access to various tourist places in Chandigarh.
First of its kind in the country, this City Card, costing Rs 100, will also give discount at CITCO restaurants. The City Card will be available at the airport, railway station, bus stand and tourist information center in Chandigarh.
Speaking on the occasion General Rodrigues said besides various plans being implemented for developing tourism in the region, the Chandigarh Administration are in the process of setting up a mega theme-cum-amusement park and a multi-media-cum-film city on the outskirts of of the city.
The theme park will highlight Indian Culture and mythology while entertaining visitors and holding their interest in the history of the region.
The multi-media-cum-film city would feature modern animation and showcase latest trends in multimedia animation, gaming along with digital studio for film and TV serial production.
Meanwhile, to mark the Tourism Day in the city, passengers at airport and railway station were given a special welcome with musical programmes. Various cultural programmes were organised in the city. A run for tourism was also organised with the support of CITCO from Sukhna Lake to Rock Garden, in which hundreds of students participated.
