Cong cadres clash in presence of Pondy CM

Karaikal, Sep 25 (UNI) Congress cadres today clashed in the presence of Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and PCC president A V Subramanian here, causing tension in the area.

Mr Vaithilingam along with Revenue Minister Malladi Krishna Rao and Mr Subramnian came to Karaikal for a two-day visit and participated in a meeting at the Congress party office.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Subramanian stressed the need to strengthen the party in the region.

At this juncture, cadres of the Nedumgadu constituency, who reached the venue of the meeting, questioned the absence of former minister Chandragasu's name in the notice. This resulted in an altercatio,n which led to the clash.

The Chief Minsiter and Revenue Minister were immediately moved to safe location.

Normality was restored after some time and the meeting continued.
