Bangalore to become India's innovation hub: Infosys CEO
Bangalore, Sep 24 (UNI) CII today launched the CII Karnataka Innovation Forum at IIM here to provide a platform for resarch and development heads and innovation managers from different industry segments to share the best practices in R and D and innovation management.
Launching the forum, Infosys CEO and Chairman of CII Karnataka Innovation Forum S Gopalakrishnan said the city had key players necessary for developing a strong vibrant innovation ecosystem along with strong academic and R and D base.
Vibrant industries ranging from IT, electronics, auto components, machine tools, heavy manufacturing, large presence of private equity players and financial institutions, he said.
The objective of the forum was to make it as participatory and relevant to the needs of the forum members so that effective communication could be facilitated, he said.
The launch was attended by the heads of prominent R and D organisations, including Prof P Balaram, Director, IISc and Prof Pankaj Chandra, Director, IIM, Bangalore.
It would provide employees of the R and D departments of PSUs, MNCs and other large companies in and around Bangalore a platform to network and explore innovation opportunities at the interface of emerging technologies and engineering disciplines, Mr Gopalakrishnan said.
