Where's the time for marriage when no time for meals: Rahul
Ferozepur, Sep 23 (UNI) Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi today sought to scotch the speculations about his tying the knot soon, saying he was too deep in politics right now to spare a thought for cupid.
''I am so engrossed in politics right now that there is no time for taking food, what to say of planning marriage soon,'' the 38-year-old youth leader said while responding to persistent queries of girl students at a local college here.
Mr Rahul Gandhi, among the most eligible bachelors in the country, spent about half-an-hour with a large number of girl students of Dev Samaj Women's college, who had lined up since early morning to meet him and went hysterical when he disembarked from his black bulletproof vehicle.
He, however, tactfully evaded further personal queries shot by the eager girls, diverting them to wider issues like status of women in the society and the solutions to menace like female infanticide.
Mr Gandhi strongly condemned the practise of femicide and exhorted the girls to join politics in a large number to effectively take up such sensitive issues and ensure woman empowerment at the grassroots.
When the girls expressed their reservations about joining politics due to its increasing criminalisation, Mr Gandhi again emphasised that the situation could be improved only if honest and dedicated youth joined the political arena.
''In fact this is the objective of my current tour and I want the young people like you to join and contribute in the nation building,'' he said adding that he was touring the entire nation to have a first hand experience of the problem faced by the common man.
Earlier, on his arrival here, Mr Gandhi visited the Hussainiwalla memorial and laid a wreath on the busts of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
