District administration fails to curb violence: Official
Mangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) M L Kumawat, Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Home Ministry today said the district administration should have taken preventive measures to avert violence and attacks spreading on places of worship in Daxina Kannada district.
Speaking to newspersons at the Bajpe Airport here, Mr Kumawat, who is heading a high-level team deputed by the Centre to take stock of the situation, said he held interactions with the injured people, police officials and officials from the district administration.
Mr Kumawat said he has advised the officials to take stringent action against those indulged in violence and attacks, so that the people could live in safety.
He said he had also advised the Government to conduct peace committee meetings in the State by involving the public at regular intervals to avert such conflicts. This would also help in building confidence, he added.
