Nepal Bar Association unwilling for talks with Supreme Court
Kathmandu, Sept 22 : The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) today said that they will not sit for talks until the Supreme Court withdraws its decision to suspend its President Bishwakanta Mainali's license.
According to Kantipur, NBA General Secretary Raman Kumar Shrestha said that attempts have still not been made for dialogue to end the difference between the bar and the bench and they will not attend any dialogues until the decision is withdrawn.
On Sunday, an emergency meeting of the office bearers at the NBA, Supreme Court Bar, District Bar Associations of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavre, Lalitpur Appellate Bar Association took the decision to boycott the bench work as part of legal practitioners' preliminary reaction to the Supreme Court decision.
The NBA on Friday had decided to duck the hearing at courts for three days throughout the nation to resist the Supreme Court's decision to suspend NBA President Mainali's license.
