International fake currency gang busted in UP

Allahabad, Sep 20 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the Allahabad police has busted an international counterfeit racket and arrested six people in this regard.

Senior Superintendent of Police Lalji Shukla in a press conference today said police nabbed the kingpin of the racket during vehicle checking drive in Karmad ki chowki area here and later five others were nabbed.

The criminals were identified as Shamshul Haq Ansari (gang leader), his son Sameer, Satish Sharma, Firoz Ansari, Mohammad Yusuf and Atiqurrehman.

Fake currency of Rs 1.5 lakh, five stolen motorcycles, a computer, scanner, printer and fake registration certificate of motorcycles were recovered from their possession.

SSP said the international gang used to bring the counterfeit currencies from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Bhutan and motorcycles from the Northeastern part of the country including Manipur and Nagaland.

The accused were sent to jail and had been booked under National Security Act and Gangster Act.
