DVK threatens if demands not addressed
Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) The Dravida Vizippunarchi Kazhagam today threatened to launch a three phase agitation if their demands for development of the Southern parts of Tamil Nadu were not addressed.
Talking to newspersons here, Kazhagam founder-President P T Arasakumar said as part of the first phase of the agitation the party would stage demonstration across the State in November.
It would be followed by massive rallies across the coutnry in January. The third phase of agitation would be to stage fasts in all district headqaurters in March next year.
Their demands included retrieval of katchatheevu from Sri Lanka to protect the interests of Tamil Nadu fishermen, revocation of orders issued by the District Collector prohibiting them from entering Ramanathapuram, hassle free arrangement by police for paying homage to Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, adeqaute compensation to two victims of caste clash in Ramnad district, setting up industries in all districts in southern Tamil Nadu to provide job opporunities, withdrawal of cases foisted against their community leaders by the police among others.
