College student killed in road mishap in Haryana
Kaithal, Sep 19 (UNI) A college going student was killed and seven others sustained injuries when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a Haryana Roadways bus near a drain in the town on Chandigarh-Hisar highway this morning.
According to police sources, the deceased student was identified as Jyoti Choudhry, a first year student at the local HCTM Engineering College. Two of the seriously injured, Annu, a lecturer and Mohit, a student of the college were referred to PGI, Chandigarh while others including students, Shakshi Walia, Poonam and Vikas, college security guard, Arun and three wheeler driver, Suresh were admitted to the local civil hospital.
Agitated over the death of their colleague, the students of the college blocked traffic on the Chandigarh-Hisar highway and damaged a few vehicles and also smashed window panes inside the college premises. Later on the intervention of the police, the students dispersed.
The police has booked the bus driver and impounded the vehicle.
