UP govt releases Rs 371 crore for farmers
Lucknow, Sep 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has released Rs 371 crore to state sugarmills for the payment of farmers dues.
After the farmers apprised of their dues on the sugarmills to the Sugarcane development minister Naseemuddin Siddiqi, funds to the tune of Rs 371 crore was released for the needful, official sources said today.
The state corporation sugarmills has been given Rs 246 crore, whereas the cooperative sugarmills got Rs 125 crore for the purpose.
As soon as the money reached the mills work of clearing farmers dues was initiated, official sources added.
It was noted that the state sugarmills had Rs 8211.32 crore farmers dues on them, of which Rs 8036.73 had already been payed so far.
