TRS attempting to unite Telangana forces for polls
Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) is making efforts to bring together all Telangana forces, even while keeping its options open for a tie-up with other parties, including the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.
As part of its political strategy, TRS party had come to an understanding with the Talli Telangana Party(TTP) of film actor Vijayashanthi for uniting the Telangana forces. The party was closely watching the moves of Praja Rajyam Party(PRP) floated by actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, party sources said.
TRS founder President K Chandrasekar Rao would shortly hold talks with Mr Goud in an effort to ensure that pro-Telangana votes did not split to the advantage of ''anti-Telangana'' parties, TRS sources said, adding that Mr Rao would undertake a yatra next month to strengthen the party.
The party would hold training classes for party activisits, including youth and highlight the significance of the movement for statehood for Telangana region.
The vote of confidence in the Manmohan Singh Government had brought closer the TRS, TDP and the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP), which had voted against the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government.
Giving an indication of a possible patch up for the general election, the TDP, TRS, CPI and CPI(M) had floor coordination in raising various issues during the Monsoon Session of the Assembly.
Both the TDP and TRS moved no confidence motion against Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy and staged a joint-stir in protest against the way in which the assembly was abruptly adjourned.
