Husband hacks wife to death in Punjab town

Barnala, Sep 18 (UNI) A husband hacked his wife to death and injured another couple at his residence in the Sarabha Nagar area of the town last night, police sources today stated.

According to sources, the husband, Yogesh Kumar used a sword to murder his wife, Sunita, blaming her for not being able to bear a child during the five years of their marriage. The parents of the deceased woman who reached here today alleged that their son-in-law used to torture their daughter for not bringing sufficient dowry.

Sources said that when Yogesh Kumar attacked his wife, their neighbours, Balwinder Singh and Swinder Kaur rushed to the house to save her. They too sustained injuries in the attack and were admitted to the civil hospital here.

The police later arrested Yogesh Kumar under sections 302 and 307 of the IPC.
