Four major anti-erosion projects taken up in J and K
Srinagar, Sep 18 (UNI) As many as four major anti-erosion projects at a cost of Rs 31.8 crore have been launched for four rivers in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
He said the rivers are Jhelum, Devak, Tawi and Chenab rivers.
Various flood protection works and anti-erosion schemes have been started under these projects and Rs 16.5 crore stand incurred on the works so far undertaken.
The department of Irrigation and Flood Control Department has formulated 109 flood protection schemes involving expenditure of Rs 2385 crores and submitted these to the Central government for funding.
For the flood protection works on Tawi, Chenab, Ujh, Dera Baba and flood spill channel of river Jhelum, an amount of Rs 12.80 crore have been released.
