Leopard captured by forest staff dies due to bleeding
Mysore, Sep 16 (UNI) A two-year-old male leopard, who was captured by forest officials here today when he entered the city and injured eight people, died due to excessive bleeding.
Talking to the media, Wildlife Division DCFO Yatish Kumar said the leopard strayed into the city from Chamundi Hills this morning attacking five forest staff, two police personnel and another person on the outskirts of the city. They were treated as outpatients for minor injuries.
The forest officials tried hard for over four hours to trap the beast who was exhausted and suffered bruises on its body.
The animal was given medicines at the Mysore Zoo and later shifted to the Aranya Bhavan in the city where he was to be kept for observation for two days.
There was tension near the base of the Chamundi Hills with people being anxious to see the animal.
Police made elaborate arrangements around the area and traffic to the Chamundi Hills stopped for some time following the incident.
