AP CLP stages dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue
Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Legislature Party today staged a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises with a symbolic appeal to provide good sense to TDP leaders in the state.
The Legislators, led by Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy, sat in front of the statue and prayed for a change of mindset of the TDP leaders about the government and the Congress party.
Mr Reddy alleged that the TDP was creating several hurdles in the normal functioning of the House and wasting precious time though the government was ready to hold discussions on various issues concerning the people.
Though the Deputy Speaker had allotted two hours for discussion on the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP and TRS against Speaker Suresh Reddy, the discussion went on for seven hours as the Opposition took more time and the TDP leaders misused the time by raising unconnected matters, he charged.
He alleged that the TDP and the TRS resorted to mud-slinging and disrespecting the highest office of the Speaker by moving a no-confidence motion against him as they had no faith in the democratic values.
