Curfew lifted in Baramulla, continues in Shopian
Srinagar, Sep 15 (UNI) Curfew was lifted in Baramulla town in north Kashmir even as it continued in Shopian in south Kashmir, official sources said today.
Curfew in both the towns was imposed on Friday afternoon following the death of one person each and injuries to several others in police and CRPF firing on pro freedom processionists.
A UNI report from Baramulla said there was no curfew in the town since yesterday. Though no official announcement has been made of the curfew being lifted yet the additional security forces deployed during curfew period were withdrawn yesterday.
Shops and business establishments are open and traffic on all routes was plying normally.
Educational institutions, government offices and banks were also functioning normally.
However, curfew continued in Shopian town where it was relaxed yesterday in the afternoon for a few hours, they added.
