Security at Nedumbaserry Airport tightened following Delhi blasts

Kochi, Sep 14 (UNI) Security arrangements at the Nedumbasserry International Airport, near here, were tightened today in the wake of the serial bomb blasts in Delhi yesterday.

The 'Bomb Detection and Defusal Squad' of the state police and the dog of the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) were put on high alert.

Operation of the close circuit television was intensified with more personnel, being posted to patrol important points at the airport round-the-clock.

Airport Director A C K Nair, CISF Commandant Rajiv Pant, CISF Sr Security Manager Muraleedharan Nair and Chengamanad SI C Jayakumar were at the airport this morning to supervise the security arrangements.

CISF personnel were frisking passengers and visitors entering the airport terminals, viewers' gallery and ladder points. All vehicles approaching the airport area were being checked by the local police and the CISF at different points.

Police personnel in mufti had also been pressed into service on the airport city side.
