High alert in Mumbai following Delhi serial blasts
Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) A high alert has been sounded in Mumbai and across Maharashtra following serial blasts in New Delhi today.
Security at all major places in the commercial capital of the country has been beefed up following the Delhi serial blasts this evening. The city was already on a tight security net in the wake of Ganesh immersion day tomorrow, Director General of Police A N Roy said.
Police personnel across the state have been alerted and high security will be maintained throughout the state, he said.
The DGP also appealed to people to stay calm and enjoy the festivities of Ganeshotsav.
''People should allow the police to do their work and should refrain from spreading rumours,'' Roy added.
Lakhs of people across the state are expected to take part in the immersion of Ganesh idols on the last day of Ganeshotsav tomorrow.
Security has also been beefed up at all major railway stations, bus depots and the airport, police said.
