President Pratibha Patil celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil today celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi by praying before a statue of Lord Ganesha at the Maharashtra Sadan here.

The President, who was accompanied by her husband Devisingh Shekhawat, was welcomed at the Maharashtra Sadan by Chief Minister of the state Vilasrao Deshmukh. After praying to Lord Ganesha, the President was presented with a shawl by Mr Deshmukh.

He also presented her with an idol of Lord Ganesha.

Also present on the occasion were Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress chief Manikrao Thakre.
