Political vendetta against Amarinder: Cong

New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Congress today refused to comment on the Punjab Assembly's decision to expel former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh from the membership of the House for the rest of its term, but said the state government was carrying out a ''political vendetta'' against him.

''Capt Amarinder Singh has already gone to court, so we cannot interfere as the matter is sub-judice,'' Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters.

Mr Ahmed said he also cannot comment on the House committee report, indicting Capt Singh and others in the land scam pertaining to exemption granted for 32.10 acres of prime land along NH-I thereby causing a huge loss to the state exchequer.

''But outside the Assembly, what is being done by the Punjab government is political vendetta,'' he said.
