Delhi Assy congratulates Centre for securing NSG nod for Nuke deal

New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Delhi Legislative Assembly today congratulated the Manmohan Singh Government at the Centre for securing clearance of the Nuclear Suppliers Group for the Indo-US Nuclear Deal.

In a resolution moved in the Delhi Legislative Assembly on the opening day of its monsoon session, the last before the forthcoming elections to the House, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said, ''The House congratulates the Indian Government for securing clearance of the NSG for the Indo-US Nuclear Deal. We commend Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for their acumen, ability and foresight.'' The resolution came even as the Opposition Bhartiya Janata Party opposed it saying that the prestige of the country had been put at stake by the Central Government.

In a separate resolution, the House congratulated wrestler Sushil Kumar, boxer Vijender Kumar for securing bronze medals and shooter Abhinav Bindra for securing a Gold medal in the Beijing Olympics.

''All the three sportspersons have ushered in a Golden era in Indian sports,'' the resolution said.
