21 freedom fighters felicitated in UP
Lucknow, Sep 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today felicitated 21 freedom fighters, marking 150 years of the first freedom struggle.
The function was organised at the Cultural Department here. Uttar Pradesh Cultural Minister Santosh Pandey expressed happiness on the occassion, saying, ''It was his pleasure to greet his elders, who had contributed a lot for the independence of our country.'' Speaking at the function, Cultural Secretary and Director Rajan Shukla said, ''It was only because of these freedom fighters that we are breathing in a sovereign country, however, still we have a long way to go.'' The freedom fighters were given a cheque of Rs 7,500, each along with a stole as a symbol of respect and honour.
