Five top militants killed in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 9 (UNI) Five top-ranking ultras of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) were killed today in an encounter near Toubul in Bishenpur district.

Police said a combined force of troops and Manipur police launched an operation near Loktak lake and its surrounding areas in Bishenpur district.

During the operation, the combined force came across some suspected militants and a fierce encounter ensued in which five top-ranking members of the PREPAK were killed.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition and many incriminating documents were recovered from the spot, they said.

The operation is still continuing in the area, police added.
