Eight people washed away by flood water in north Bihar
Goalpara, Sep 9 (UNI) At least eight people, including a woman, were washed away by the surging flood waters in different areas of the worst-affected Madhepura district in north Bihar today.
Police said of the eight victims, four were washed away by the current of the turbulent Kosi near here while trying to return to their native village from a relief camp.
Two each met with the same fate at Bihariganj and Chousa on their way to the relief camp after traversing a long way through waist- deep water.
However, none of the bodies had been recovered so far despite search operation by the local authorities, police said.
Earlier, last night at least 24 people, including several women and children, were feared drowned in a boat disaster under similar circumstances near Chattapur village in Supoul district.
