Raj calls for boycott of Bachchans' films
Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) Launching a fresh tirade against the Bachchans, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today vowed to block the release of all films, featuring any of its members in the state, and asked people to boycott all products endorsed by the Bachchans till Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan tenders an unconditional apology over her remarks, asserting her love for Hindi.
Raj Thackeray while addressing a press conference here this evening, also accused the Bachchans of having 'poison in their minds' for Marathi people.
An apparent off-the-cuff remark by Jaya Bachchan at the music launch of her film with son Abhishek, 'Drona' last Saturday evoked strong reaction from the MNS chief.
During the music release, Jaya had said ''Hum Uttar Pradesh ke log hain, isliye Hindi mein baat karenge. Maharashtra ke log maaf kariye.'' 'The Last Lear', featuring Amitabh is releasing this Friday, while Abhishek's 'Drona' is slated for a September 19 release.
''She (Jaya) has said she doesn't know who Raj Thackeray is...
now, she will know,'' the MNS chief said.
There was speculation that the barb was aimed at Raj Thackeray, who had launched a tirade against her husband in the past, over his alleged bias for native Uttar Pradesh while ignoring Maharashtra, the Bachchans' ''karmabhoomi''.
