Govt releases another instalment for elevated road to Golden Temple

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) The Urban Development Ministry today approved Rs 1868.63 lakh as third instalment towards construction of the wo-lane elevated road to Golden Temple and construction of four-lane elevated road on G T in Amritsar in Punjab under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Besides, the Ministry gave a green singal to the release of second instalment of Rs 1297.88 lakh for revamping of sewerage system and sewerage treatment work for Faridabad city in Haryana.

For Punjab projects, the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee had earlier released two instalments totaling Rs 1868.625 lakh in July 2007 and March 2008.

The Central share in the Rs 10,383 lakh Faridabad project is Rs 5191.50 lakh.

The Committee also sanctioned the second instalments of four ongoing projects in Ahmedabad and Vadodara in Gujarat.

The Ahmedabad projects include construction of four lakh roads at Omkar crossing, storm water drainage system for west zone area, BRTS-construction of 12 km long stretch. For Vadodara, it is the construction of storm water drainage system.

The construction of 12 km long stretch and storm water drainage project at Ahmedabad are targetted to be completed by June 2009, while the four-lane ROB, originally scheduled to be completed in June, 2008, would now end in June 2009.
