SBI fake currency case: SIT pleads court for narco test of accussed

Siddharthnagar, Sep 3 (UNI) Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into the recently surfaced SBI Dumariaganj counterfeit racket has sought court's permission for narco test of the prime accused and suspended cashier Sudhakar Tripathi and co-accused Abid Sheikh.

SIT had already filed an application in the court for the same, official sources said today.

Meanwhile, SIT had also summoned three policemen, who had close nexus with the former Dumariaganj station officer Shamsher Bahadur Singh, who was sacked for his involvement in the case.

On July 29, STF of the Uttar Pradesh Police had held Sudhakar and seized Rs 7,21,000, including fake notes worth Rs 5,000 from his house and later requested the RBI for currency screening in the SBI branch.

On August 5, a team of senior RBI officials reached the bank and after undertaking the work for two days RBI handed over the counting procedure to SBI with appointing it's observatory officer.

After few days, Dumariaganj SO was suspended and later sacked after being found guilty of misappropriating cash seized from Sudhakar's residence.
