CBI team in Tripura to investigate fake draft case

Agartala, September 3 (UNI) A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived here today following fresh detection of fake foreign bank drafts in two different banks in North Tripura last week.

Official sources said the cases of fake bank drafts were handed over to CBI in 2006 when Rs 2.8 crore had been drawn against 561 fake drafts of various foreign banks from three nationalised banks in the state.

Police said as many as 59 people were identified in the fake draft deals out of which 58 had already been arrested.

'' Two more people were arrested from Indo-Bangladesh bordering villages on Monday for depositing fake drafts of Al-Radhi Bank,Riyadh Saudi Arabia '' police added.

CBI Regional Office, Kolkata has sent a team led by Inspector Sanjoy Sen to carry out the investigation.
