Airports Economic Regulatory Authority to come up soon

New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) The Centre will soon set up Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) to fix, review and approve tariff structure for aeronautical services and also to monitor pre-set performance standards at Indian airports.

The government has introduced the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Bill, 2007, which seeks to set up AERA, a few months ago. The bill was later referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee which had gone into it and made a series of recommendations.

A meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today gave its approval for moving official amendments in the bill on the basis of the recommendations made by the Standing Committee, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told mediapersons.
