Rise above politics to honour Beijing heroes: Deepender

Chandigarh, Aug 28 (UNI) Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda today urged all the political leaders of the state to rise above the party lines and attend the state level function to honour seven Beijing Olympians at Bhiwani on August 30.

"All the political leaders of the state, including INLD president Om Parkash Chautala, All India Boxing Federation president Abhay Singh Chautala, former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal and Kuldeep Bishnoi of Haryana Janhit Congress should attend the function by cutting across the party lines, as sportpersons belong to sports only and not to political parties," he said.

"The function belongs to neither any political party nor it is a personal function. Rather, it is a state level function organised to honour our heroes. The honour extended unitedly to these promising stars would certainly provide them new energy and inspire them to achieve something bigger in future. All the political leaders are requested to attend the function and bless these national heroes," he said.

In the function gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, bronze medallists wrestler Sushil Kumar and boxer Vijender Singh and other boxers Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar, who qualified for the quarter final, Saina Nehwal, Yogeshwar Dutt and coach Jagdish would be honoured by giving them cash awards.
