Karnataka opposes setting up of Tribunal for Kalasa
Bangalore, Aug 28 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister today opposed the Union Government's move to appoint a Tribunal for solving Kalasa and Bhandury canal project taken up by the State Government for providing drinking water to twin city of Hubli and Dharwad.
In a letter to Union Minister for Water Resources Shafiyuddin Soj Mr Yeddyurappa said that " since the matter is in the Supreme Court it is not possible to appoint a Tribunal to solve the problem", according to a release from the CM's Secretariat here.
Stating that the Centre had accorded in principle approval for the project in 2002, Mr Yeddyurappa urged the Centre to sanction the projects since it was meant for providing drinking water.
