State demands central assistance to build damaged roads
Shimla, Aug 27 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today sought Central assitance for repairing the roads damaged due to excessive rain in the mountainous state.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who presided over the cabinet meeting approved carrying of repairs and maintenance of the roads, link roads and drinking water supply schemes damaged in the recent rains in the state.
A state government spokesman said the Revenue Department would immediately compile the rain damages report and prepare a consolidated memorandum for submission to the Centre to get the funds released to undertake restoration work of the damaged infrastructure all over the state.
Special care shall be taken of the apple growing areas to ensure smooth movement of vehicles to the markets during the ongoing apple season.
He said hat a sum of Rs. 105 crore has already been released to the Public Works Department to carry out the restoration work.
