Fierce encounter going on in Machil sector in J and K

Srinagar, Aug 27 (UNI) A fierce encounter is going on between militants and security forces in Machil sector in the frontier district of Kupwara since early this morning.

Official sources said a patrol party of security forces was fired upon by the militants in the woods in Machil sector this morning.

Reinforcement was immediately rushed to the area and entire forest area was sealed from all sides.

The operation was still going on when reports last came in.

This was the second encounter in the sector during the past two week.

Earlier, last week 14 militants and three army personnel, including a Colonel, were killed and three soldiers were wounded in the 72-hour-long gun battle.
