CPI(M) condemns killing of peaceful processionists in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 25 (UNI) The Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) today strongly condemned the killing of civilian processionists in firing by security forces in the Kashmir valley.
State Secretary of the CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami in a statement here expressed his deep sorrow and grief over loss of precious lives and injuries to scores of people in ifferent parts of the Kashmir valley.
He strongly condemned the firing on unarmed protestors across Kashmir and urged the administration to exercise utmost restraint.
He expressed his apprehension that unwarranted use of force would only deteriorate the situation further.
Mr Tarigami appealed to the entire political leadership of the state to rise above party politics and help resolve the crisis that has engulfed the entire state.
He reiterated the demand that the government should necessarily take into confidence the Kashmir Civil society; particularly the Coordination Committee before taking any decision about the issue of land row.
He also reiterated the fact that the land use issue was bilateral and cautioned that any unilateral decision could be highly counter-productive.
