Food Department officer arrested for accepting bribe
Bangalore, Aug 23(UNI) Lokayukta sleuths arrested a food department officer of Bijapur district yesterday while accepting a bribe for showing an official favour.
According to a Lokayukta press release, a food Assistant working in Food and Civil Supplies department, Basavaraj Parappa Shetagar of had demanded Rs 5,000 from a Fair Price shop owner, Mahesh Ningappa Hipparagi to supply food grains to the shops. Hipparagi had taken the cause of hisfellow fair shop owners and complained to the Lokayukta.
The police, yesterday in well laid trap, arrrested Shetagar while accepting the bribe and the accused was taken into custody by the Lokayukta sleuths.
