Lone BJP MLA joins Congress in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh's lone BJP MLA R T Khunjuju today joined the ruling Congress.

With the joining of Mr Khunjuju into the Congress fold there is no opposition in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Mr Khunjuju's joining has increased the strength of the Congress to 44. Arunachal Congress (AC) has two members and there are 14 Independents in the 60-member House.

All the AC and Independent members are supporting the Dorjee Khandu-led Congress government.

Mr Khandu, who came to power in April last year, managed to win over eight of the nine BJP MLAs in June and two Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislators in September last year.

Assembly Speaker Setong Sena has notified the joining of Mr Khunjuju in Congress.
