Bill to regulate private courier services soon: Raja
Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, Aug 17 (UNI) Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A Raja said a bill to regulate private courier services will be introduced in the coming session of Parliament.
Launching Project Arrow, a programme to restructure and modernise the Department of Posts, here yesterday at the post offices at Ariyalur, Perambalur and other places, he said steps were being taken to modernise the services of the department by the introduction of latest technologies.
Mr Raja said efforts were being made to introduce some of banking services through post offices to bring the department out of the red.
In Tamil Nadu, 800 post offices had been computerised and 500 more would be computerised during this year, he said, adding a new building would be constructed for the Perambalur Head Post Office and Rs one crore had been allotted for the construction of building for the Thuraiyur Head Post Office.
