Dhumal demands more DTH Receive systems for tribal areas
Shimla, Aug 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for sanctioning more Direct to Home (DTH) Receive System for the tribal areas of the state.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Dhumal while thanking the central government for providing 20,000 DTH Receive Systems for the tribal areas of the state in view of tough topography and positioning of these areas along the inernational border, urged for more DTH Receive Systems to fulfill the additional demand of district Kinnaur and other tribal areas of the state.
''Lahaul and Spiti district and Bharmour Sub-division of Chamba district are very remote areas and remain inaccessible for over 5-6 months in a year. With the installation of more DTH Receive Systems in these difficult areas, every household in the tribal areas of the state would have access to all the Doordarshan and AIR channels being aired, which would go a long way in connecting the people of these areas to the mainstream,'' he stated.
The Chief Minister said more number of the DTH systems were required to provide television coverage in these signal shadow areas.
